Reunited with my Mirror

Poem and image by Martha Di Giovanni

Reunited with my mirror
Walked into the bathroom, saw its reflection
Of a being that needs to be loved,
But don't know where to go.

There's a playful deception
I don't why you taunt me,
Because you're nothing but a reflection
Am I a selfish fool?

A reflection that cannot live
without someone to share it
A reflection that has no place or reason
But mimics every move,

A reflection that forgives me
Not a word will be told
A reflection that torments me
For all I see is an empty soul,

I cannot recognize what is real
All I know is that you exist
That reflection in the mirror
Is it an obsession or just a trick?

Or am I deceiving myself?
Or is it my delusional nightmare?
I hear you calling my name
Maybe I'm infatuated

With my reflection in the mirror.
