Depth of the Soul

Poem by Daniella Simon and image by Martha Di Giovanni

Mourners,
The ones who sit in corners,
The punished,
The Famished,
The killers,
and the one billion billers,
You have a soul,
Though you may receive your coal,
You aren't just a brain,
If you are old, you're not just a cane,
See aside from that,
And you will get past that imaginary blindness,
And you'll see,
The depth of your soul,
Whether you are good,
Or bad,
Or the truth...
